Aiko 10th Design and Usage

First written 24/08/22

Hello!

To kickstart the project, I'm releasing my fan design for Aiko's 10th anniversary. Though a pretty far departure from her SynthesizerV Design, there are a lot of sentimental elements and references to every stage of Aiko's history within it! Getting to the serious stuff before I waffle though...

USAGE:

- Follow Aiko's character terms of service from VOLOR, first and foremost. - You can use the images and designs provided for any Aiko content.

- Link back to the Aiko 10th fan celebrations page when using the assets or design.

- Please don't use this design for profit. - No NSFW or illegal content.

Why's it sentimental/inspirations?

Ramble time!!

This design takes from a lot of elements. I wanted to bring all of aiko together into one aiko, especially for everyone who hasn't perhaps spent 6 months obsessively drawing one of every Aiko design ever. Its primarily based on Aiko's original design, but exaggerated for the apron and frills which now look like wings. She's basically an angel, though there isn't really a source or reference for that.

The cat ears are the SynthesizerV shape from LAM, but with the original pen-tip. They retained their cone shape. In a way this is also a reference to how Aiko's ears are in AnAnDanDing's songs, as they're always synthesizerv shaped with the exaggerated pen tip!

The pink theming started as a reference to how in some original images (including the very first!) and key arts, Aiko had pink highlights in her twintails. (I have already made a design for the era when she had blue highlights (see Mint Aiko in the 8th birthday downloads! I will update the key art).) It retains the gingham from SynthesizerV though, that's integral to Aiko now!! But the pattern is from one of the Aiko Idol Project designs. (by LAM? The key art is by LAM!)

The sleeves and bracelets come from a few references (including my own Mint Aiko's gloves). The rounded gold ribbon is in reference to how KAWORU draws Aiko's sleeves. The star-shaped gold ribbon is in reference to how LAM drew Aiko's original sleeves when doing the maid design. This is a detail maybe only I noticed, but its also the easiest way to spot who drew which Aiko! (Unrelated but my cosplay has LAM sleeves)

The skirt shape idea comes from a very obscure tiny collab aiko alt design with traditional clothing elements. Its a tiny chibi that was posted exactly once like 6 years ago. Its one of my favorite aiko alts though !!! ;w; soo fluffy This is also why the apron goes all-around.

The petticoat comes from one of her many halloween designs.

The overall shape of the sleeves, the glitter mesh and bracelets however, come from Aiko's voice provider as well! Sherry has worn a specific pink outfit many times throughout the years (even before aiko for the skirt) and it can be seen on Bonnie Bunny's youtube and her Twitter. (go to links to see!). This outfit is also pink! Its a coincidence with the sleeves, but these elements are pretty common in cute maid outfits. Aiko's hair is also curlier to reflect hers, and the trend in making Aiko's hair into ringlets (Myself, Rabbvoluton, even LAM's. LAM used to draw Aiko with her spikier original concept sketch twintails!).

The detached collar and bodice are based on a dream hime lolita coord of mine, but with the belt and ribbons I put on all my VOLORs fan designs. That bit isn't so sentimental it was just cute.

Aiko's socks, shoes, back bow and front bow almost never change. They are exactly as they always have been, but are missing the red insoles as LAM first drew all Aiko designs. I didn't want to change them, they're too important.

The Animen badge is a mixture of A and 0 (zero), to make an A and a 10. Aiko 10!!

Thank you for reading!!
